LOCATION

TRAPANI, SICILY, ITALY

Trapani is located in western Sicily and is nicknamed, “the city between two seas” because it juts out on a narrow stretch of land, which is surrounded by the sea, becoming ever narrower to its far tip, Torre
di Ligny (Tower of Ligny). Mythology recounts how the scythe of Ceres or perhaps Saturn fell from hishand and transformed itself into the arched land strip from which the city grew giving it its shape called
Drepanon or scythe in ancient Greek. Trapanit is a city, which over the course of time has preserved the marks of its numerous dominations.

It is possible to perceive the richness achieved by the city in the 17th and 18th centuries by admiring its numerous baroque buildings and churches. Today it is an important seaside and cultural vacation destination.
If you can spend some time in the area for a little vacation either before or after the General Assembly, Sicily has a wealth of localities worthy of your attention, both for their artistic as well as environmental
heritage such as Palermo, the wonderful Islands Egadi (Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo), the volcanic island of Pantelleria, reachable by ferry from Trapani’s port, Erice (a medieval town), Sagesta and Selinunte,
both with wonderful Greek temples. Along the coast are important and interesting naturalistic sites such as the Gulf of Castellamare, Scopello and San Vito lo Capo with a coastline rich in cliffs and sea stacks,
which alternate with enchanting beaches kissed by crystalline waters with fantastic sea beds.
